8 Tips to Help You Find Your Pet Lost on Fourth of July Independence Day

Did you enjoy yourselves in Fourth of July party last week? I think the aerial firework display is really elaborate. While the bad news is that my dog has escaped from its cage and hide its body under our car. Fortunately, we found it quickly and it was not out of condition. Did you find your four-legged friend who have run away during Fourth of July celebrations? If still not, we hope below tips can help reunite you with your pet quickly.

  1. Time is of the essence.

Don’t delay your search or believe that your pet will find their way home.

  1. Check for all local animal shelters, even those you think are so far that pet would not run to.

You can call the shelters but check in person is a better way because you can recognize immediately if you see your pet. And be sure to have a photo of your pet on-hand as well as their veterinary records.

  1. Post highly visible signs around your neighborhood.

Post flyers around your neighborhood with your pet’s photo, name, and your phone number.

  1. Post photos and information on social media.

Places like Craigslist, Facebook, Instagram and the Nextdoor app all help pets find their way back home.

  1. Look in those hard-to-reach places.

Walk through your home and pay attention to areas where your pet may be get themselves stuck.

  1. Put personal items outside:

Leave your old T-shirt or pets bedding and toys on your patio to help your pet find his way back.

  1. Find out whether your animals were injured in crash:

We don’t want to think about the possibility that our pets were injured, but check with the state Department of Transportation and reach out to local police department by calling the non-emergency number and inquiring about crashes involving animals.

  1. Use your community newspaper:

Place a “lost pet” ad in the newspaper and search for the “found” section.

If you have other practical advices or find your pet stories, please share with us 🙂

Help Dogs Overcome the Fear of the Independence Day Fireworks 2018

The July, 4th is US Independence Day, which is one of America’s principal legal holiday. People always enjoy themselves that day, however, dogs are under the most stress on this day. Endless fireworks displays may drive them crazy, and even make them fled in disorder and are nowhere to be found. Whether the plan is to go out to view some fireworks or host your own Fourth of July party, it’s important to remember to keep your furry friends safe during the holiday. Here are some simple tips to share with dog lovers.

First, try to stay with the dogs, touch them, and make them calm down. If you have to go out, remember to put them in a safe room, close the doors and windows, and turn on the TV to buffer the sound of fireworks.

Playing music is also a practical way to make dogs calm down. It is most effective to start playing the music before the fireworks displays begin, because the dog can feel calm and relaxed when the music is playing. It is able to connect music with calm emotions. Therefore, the music should be played in a few hours before fireworks begin, and continued to play until fireworks finished. Music doesn’t need to be loud, and it has been proven to be effective in stabilizing the dog’s nervous system.

Give the dog a place to stay indoors. Dogs can’t talk to you how they are afraid of loud noises, and they usually choose a small space to settle down. The cage will be a good choice if your dog feels safe in it.

Close the window and draw the curtains if possible. Cover the cage and dim the light are both helpful to pacify dogs. Shifting visual stimuli is a good way to stabilize dogs.

Make sure your dog has a positioning chip or wears an identification tag, and make sure the contact information above is up to date.

In addition, it is best to train the dog to know the way home.

I Can’t Stand To Have Only One “Take Your Dog To Work Day” Every Year, So I…

I can’t stand having only one “TYDTWDay” every year, so I…. want to share funny stories that day with you 🙂

Only I have a dog among all my colleagues, I am really the winner in life!

Dress your dog in a suit and let them experience the life of office workers!

I feel nervous because it is the first time for me to be a deliverer.

Taking dogs to the meeting and even boring meeting will be fun.

Let me see which one is better.

I don’t know what he is laughing at… emmm, so I laugh with him.

For me, going to work is just moving to another place to sleep.

Dog owner: I feel the burden on my shoulders is heavier…

But for this police dog, things become a little difficult, after all, itself is a dog and it wants to take another dog to work…. on second thought, it takes his “best friend” to the office….

TYDTWDay was first celebrated in 1999. 2018 marks the 20th annual event.

It was created by Pet Sitters International (PSI) to celebrate the great companions dogs make and promote their adoptions. The event encourages employers to experience the joys of pets in the workplace for one day to support their local pet communities. PSI feels that through the events, non-pet owners are able to witness the special bond their co-workers have with their pets firsthand and be encouraged to adopt a new best friend of their own.

Zsa Zsa, a 9-year-old bulldog from Anoka, Minnesota, won the 2018 contest. Her owner, Megan Brainard, noted the dog had been rescued from a puppy mill. Her distinguishing characteristic was an extremely long tongue that protruded almost to the ground.

The World’s Ugliest Dog Contest is an annual event, which has a history of 30 years. One of its organizers stated that when it was originally held as a town party, but now it is a national and worldwide event.

Can Dogs Eat Traditional Chinese Rice-pudding?

Today is Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, and many Chinese will eat traditional Chinese rice-pudding, which is called Zongzi.

Many owners would like to share Zongzi with their dogs and believe that it is not bad for their furry friend, however, the cases of dogs diarrhea due to eating Zongzi often occur during the festival.

The main ingredient of Zongzi is glutinous rice, which has large oiliness and stickiness. Excessive eating Zongzi for dogs can easily lead to indigestion, and there will be increased gastric acid secretion, loss of appetite, abdominal distention, diarrhea and other symptoms. How on earth can a dog taste the delicious rice dumplings without indigestion?

The spices (white spirits, soy sauce and other spices) that commercial Zongzi usually added or excessive intake of sodium salt can lead to diarrhea, vomiting, and anemia or other symptoms in dogs. If you want to share rice dumplings with your dog, you’d better mix glutinous rice with lean beef, chicken, mutton to make rice dumplings by yourself.

Before feeding, you can divide rice dumpling into small portions to help dogs digest.

For dogs who always wolf down their food, it is better not to feed them Zongzi. The burden on the stomach will be increased because the food are chewed less frequently in the mouth, and that will also increase the incidence of dyspepsia greatly.

Actually scientific breeding has advocated that don’t feed human food to dogs. Owners who want to make meals for his dog can customize the dog’s nutritious meal according to the nutritional needs of his dog, but blindly feed the dog with human food will cause a physical burden on the dog which will lead to discomfort to the dog.

So in summary, for the safety of dogs, it is best not to feed dogs with rice dumplings.

When you give a command to the dog to get the newspaper, the dog will feel puzzled at the beginning. You should take it to the place where newspapers are put in and fetch the newspaper.

Hold the newspaper up and says “newspaper”to the dog. Give a“fetch newspaper” command, then let it hold the newspaper in the mouth, patting and praising it after it complete the action.

Induce the dog back to house, and give the newspaper to you, then admire it again. Praise and treat to reinforce the behavior. Repeat the training. After a few days’ training, you can try to command the dog to fetch the newspaper.

Once your dog gets the hang of fetching newspaper and successfully bringing it to you, you can try other command words to train her to fetch other objects for you.
